Care, Treatment and Education Programs for Youth

At Bayfield, we create relationships of enduring value and respect with our children and youth, their families, our staff and agencies with whom we partner in our efforts to make a significant difference. Our programs offer care, treatment and private school education for girls and boys experiencing behavioural, psychiatric and neuro-developmental disorders, often with a co-morbid diagnosis, commonly manifesting themselves in extreme behaviour.  Many youth referred have experienced significant trauma in their lives, often resulting in high risk taking behaviours including aggression to others, self-harm, running away and substance abuse.

"Bayfield offers quality programs that develop occupational skills, academic skills, life skills, mutual respect, common sense and morality."

At Bayfield, the at risk youth with a history of adversity is helped to develop supportive relationships with adults, to form peer relationships, develop socialization skills, focus on self-worth, engage in appropriate behaviour, practice life skills, manage stressful situations and strengthen family relationships. In our highly supportive environment, the at-risk youth interacts daily with caretakers who consistently reflect the child's positive psychological self. Treatment at Bayfield prioritizes the behavioural stabilization that is required for each youth's progression through a continuum of care into less intrusive environments.
